ABCD Awards Scholarship

ABCD Northeast Ohio has selected the recipient for its first annual scholarship. The scholarship, which consists of a one-time $1000 award to a student member of ABCD currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, will be awarded to Blake Andrews, a student at Ohio University. ABCD extends its congratulations to him. The scholarship will be formally presented to him at a meeting this fall.

2005 Elections

The results of the recent officer elections are complete. Joseph Seif and Richard Walters were re-elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively. Chuck Cvitkovich will remain as president and Ted Beltavski will remain as vice-president. Matt Lawler and Tom Stora were elected to the Board of Directors.

Education Committee

ABCD’s education committee is seeking additional members. If you are interested in joining the committee or would like more information, please contact Bill Vermes at wvermes@euthenics-inc.com.

ABCD Awards Program

The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2005 ABCD Awards Program is September 1, 2005.

Please consider entering your recent projects for the 2005:

· Outstanding New Short Span Bridge

· Outstanding New Major Bridge

· Outstanding Rehabilitated Short Span Bridge

· Outstanding Rehabilitated Major Bridge

Each submittal should include the following:

· A summary of the bridge project, in 100 words or less on why the bridge project should receive an award

· A listing of significant project features

· The name of the Owner, Designer, and Prime Contractor of the project

· Two or more 3 ½” x 5” color photographs of the project

· Three identical 8” x 10” color photographs of the project suitable for framing (more may be required if there is more than one owner)

· One or more 11” x 17” drawing or sketch of the project

The ABCD award criteria have recently been revised to include all of the counties in Ohio for eligibility. The full submittal and judging criteria including entry form can be found by clicking here.
