The AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications are now updated and released on a 3-year cycle, beginning with the 8th edition back in 2017. This presentation will review some of the more significant updates to Section 6 of the LRFD Bridge Design Specifications that now appear in the new 9th Edition AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, as well as providing a preview of some of the updates that will be coming in the future 10th Edition specification, scheduled to be released in 2023.  Discussion regarding revisions to the 9th edition will include: Revisions to the Fatigue Details in Table 6.6.1.2.3-1, revisions to the Flexural Design Provisions for Tees & Double Angles, and new Design Provisions for Noncomposite Box-Section Members.  Upcoming approved changes in the 10th edition to be discussed include significant changes to the design and analysis of cross-frame members, including fatigue evaluation of these members.  This presentation will focus on these revisions along with the background for the changes and how they may affect typical steel bridge designs.
