Join ABCD Northeast Ohio for a presentation by Aaron Colorito of Michael Baker regarding the rehabilitation of the historic Roberto Clemente (6th Street) suspension bridge in Pittsburgh. This meeting will qualify for 1.0 PDH credit.

The Roberto Clemente (6th Street) Bridge is a steel self-anchored suspension bridge in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, spanning the Allegheny River and riverfront trails. The Clemente Bridge was rehabilitated between 2022 and 2023. Various repairs were required to address ongoing deterioration, including deck replacement, steel framing repair and replacement, tie-down system replacement, replacement eyebar and pin nuts, new steel curbs, and general rivet replacement. Additionally, masonry substructures were cleaned and enhanced lighting systems installed. The presentation will outline the types of deterioration observed on the bridge and how repairs were designed and detailed to address deterioration.
